Witold is a Delivery Manager at Cosmo Tech. He answered our questions from the Cosmo Tech headquarters in Lyon, France.

What is your role at Cosmo Tech and what is a typical day like for you?

As a Delivery Manager, my main role is to deliver complex systems modeling projects which allow critical industry stakeholders to make optimal decisions. I am responsible for the adequacy between our customer’s expectations and Cosmo Tech’s delivered (end) product. What I like about my job is that I have lots of opportunities to interact with customers including interviewing them in order to understand their pain points and extract use cases for our simulations. I also train customers and business partners in our modelling methodology in order to assure mutual understanding on the benefits of our approach. Even more, I often work on early stage feasibility studies, which are projects with a high level or modeler / customer expertise interaction.  More recently, for the past several weeks I have been focused on water production and distribution infrastructure.

What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?

Each project is a blank page that challenges intellectual flexibility! However, I can draw on my experiences from past projects to help me move forward with new ones. As it is not the modeler’s role to become an expert of any business application field, it happens that a key success factor for a modeling project consists in asking the right questions to the right people, which is a great challenge and takes preparation. Namely, preliminary studies to make sure I understand the field and also that I understand what both the clients and the modeler are looking to know. Another important challenge for me is meeting tight deadlines, without downgrading work quality, which takes focus and team organization. However, all these challenges keep my job interesting and exciting, so I never get bored!

What’s something you’re looking forward to in the coming months?

Open discussions with industry leaders in the water production & distribution field has highlighted numerous fascinating challenges for modeling and simulation, which are currently translated into new functionalities in Cosmo Tech’s platform. I am looking forward to testing these new functionalities and receiving feedback from our customers and partners who actively participated in these developments. More generally, I am looking forward to new types of business opportunities for Cosmo Tech, in emerging technology domains, opening the path to novel modeling and simulation approaches, and all they include as scientific challenges!
