Fanny is on the Customer Product Delivery team at Cosmo Tech. She answered our questions from the Cosmo Tech headquarters in Lyon, France. 

 

What’s your background and how did you end up at Cosmo Tech?

 

After two years of preparatory classes in biology/geology, physics/chemistry, and mathematics, I graduated from the engineering school Polytech Nice Sophia Antipolis in bioinformatics and modeling for biology. I was looking for an internship and Cosmo Tech happened to be offering just what I was looking for: systems modeling in a private company (which is not so easy to find!) After my internship, I was hired to join the Customer Product Delivery team, where I work to ensure our clients are pleased with their projects.

 

You just got finished with a big project. What can you tell us about it?

 

Planning plant turnaround and shutdowns for maintenance requires the realization of thousands of tasks with limited time, space, and resources. The project is about prototyping a tool to simulate activities and resource conflicts during shutdowns. The goal is to master the plan and the associated risks before starting the shutdown, in order to finish on time and save money despite the complexity of the planning and resources used. We received valuable insights from the simulation results that will be beneficial to our modelers and the client, and we will hopefully start the next phase with our client soon. We are developing a specific software tool that will allow users to plan ahead, as well as using predictive simulation to help decision makers test and improve their plans.

 

What’s something you’re looking forward to in the coming months?

 

Since I have been occupied with the big project, I am currently following up on what the rest of the Customer Product Delivery team is doing. There are some new, very interesting problematics popping up and I’m looking forward to participating in solving one (or several!) of these and learning new things along the way.
