The CoSMo Company has been selected as one of the finalists in the prestigious Red Herring 100 Europe award and will be joining other leading startups from across Europe, Russia, and the Middle East in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, later this month to make a final pitch to the judges.
The Red Herring award is amongst the most high-profile awards for startups in the world. With Red Herring awarding one prize each in Europe, the US, and Asia each year, competition is fierce and making the final shortlist of just one hundred startups is a significant achievement. Unlike other awards that might measure startups against a metric of revenue or year-on-year growth, the Red Herring awards test startups against criteria for success that reflect the totality of a company’s business. Red Herring 100 nominees are evaluated on 20 main quantitative and qualitative criterion, which include disruptive impact, market footprint, proof of concept, financial performance, technology innovation, social value, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.
Finalists for the 2017 edition of the Red Herring 100 Europe award are selected based upon their technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition, and financial health. During the months leading up to the announcement, Red Herring reviewed over 1200 companies in the telecommunications, security, cloud, software, hardware, biotech, mobile and other industries that completed their submissions to qualify for the award.
“This year was rewarding, beyond all expectations. There are many great companies generating really innovative and disruptive products in Europe. We had a very difficult time narrowing the pool and selecting the finalists,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “The CoSMo Company shows great promise and therefore deserves to be among the finalists. Now we’re faced with the difficult task of selecting the Top 100 winners of Red Herring Europe. We know that the 2017 crop will grow into some amazing companies that are sure to make an impact.”
For CoSMo CEO Hugues de Bantel who will be representing the company at the Red Herring 100 Europe event in Amsterdam, CoSMo’s selection as one of the 100 finalists is further proof that the innovative startup he co-founded with Michel Morvan has gained real traction internationally.
“Already this year CoSMo has been named to the Global Cleantech 100 and now we are one of the finalists for the Red Herring 100 Europe award,” said de Bantel. “This is testament to the power of our innovative, industry-validated approach, but also the strength and hard work of our team in France and in the United States in driving the CoSMo vision forward.”
The list of finalists for the Red Herring 100 Europe award is available online here, and the winner will be announced on 26 April 2017.
